James H. Johnston

Writer and Speaker in Washington DC

     Jim Johnston is a lawyer, writer, and lecturer in Washington D.C.  His law practice covers telecommunications, intellectual property, and appellate litigation. Jim has more than one hundred newspaper and magazine articles to his credit on topics such as law, history, art, terrorism, and books.  His work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, White House History, Howard Law Journal, Legal Times of Washington, American Lawyer, Maryland Historical Society Magazine, Gettysburg Magazine, and Muslim World.     He has written four books: 

Murder, Inc., the CIA under John F. Kennedy;

From Slave Ship to Harvard, Yarrow Mamout and the History of an African American Family;

The War Story of Harold Johnston; and 

The Recollections of Margaret Cabell Brown Loughborough

      His articles and links to copies of many may be found at the Publications button.  Jim is on the Speakers Bureau of the Montgomery County Historical Society and the United States Department of State.  He has delivered some 260 lectures on his books, articles, and other subjects.  Murder, Inc. was released in August 2019 by Potomac Books, an imprint of the University of Nebraska Press.
